Terms of use

The rules for using AltComedy.com, in as plain language as we can manage. Effective October 13, 2026.

Effective date: October 13, 2026. These terms of use ("terms") apply to your use of AltComedy.com (the "site"), an independent editorial site about alternative comedy run by the operator of AltComedy.com ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

About the site

AltComedy.com publishes articles, profiles, guides and lists about alternative comedy, written and edited by the AltComedy Editors. The site is free to read and is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. You don't need an account to use it.

Our content is for general information and entertainment. It reflects our editorial research and opinions, which you're free to disagree with.

Using the site

You may read, share links to and print pages from the site for your own personal, non-commercial use. When using the site, you agree not to:

  • use it in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting or any connected systems;
  • use automated tools to copy or scrape substantial parts of the site, or to republish our content, without our written permission (ordinary search-engine indexing is welcome);
  • interfere with the ads on the site, for example by generating fraudulent clicks or impressions;
  • use the contact form to send spam, malware, or abusive, threatening or unlawful material.

Our content and intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the text, design, layout, graphics, illustrations and compilation of content on AltComedy.com are owned by or licensed to the operator of AltComedy.com and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The AltComedy name and logo are ours as well.

You may quote short extracts from our articles for commentary, criticism, review or news reporting, with a credit to AltComedy.com and a link to the original page. Any other copying, republication or commercial use requires our prior written permission, which you can request through our contact form.

Names of comedians, shows, specials, networks and companies mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners. Their mention doesn't imply any endorsement of, or affiliation with, AltComedy.com. Where we discuss comedy works, we describe and analyse them in our own words; the works themselves remain the property of their creators.

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, please tell us through the contact form, identifying the work, the page concerned and your relationship to the rights holder. We'll review it promptly and remove or correct material where appropriate.

Messages and submissions

You can send us messages, corrections and suggestions through our contact form. When you do:

  • you confirm that what you send is accurate to the best of your knowledge and doesn't infringe anyone's rights;
  • you agree that we may use the ideas, facts and suggestions you send (for example, a correction or a comedian to cover) to improve the site, without any obligation to pay you or credit you, although we're happy to credit you if you ask and it's appropriate;
  • we won't publish your name, email address or message itself without your permission.

We don't accept unsolicited articles for publication. How we handle the personal information in your message is explained in our privacy policy.

Advertising

Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense and its partners. We don't choose individual ads, and an ad appearing on the site isn't an endorsement of the advertiser, its products or its claims. Any dealings you have with advertisers are between you and them. If you see an ad that seems misleading or inappropriate, please let us know.

Our articles link to other websites, including comedians' official sites, streaming services, publishers and reference sources. We link to them because we think they're useful, but we don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or privacy practices. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.

Disclaimers

We work hard to make our content accurate and current, and we correct mistakes when we find them (see our editorial standards). However, the site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, that:

  • the content is complete, accurate, current or suitable for any particular purpose;
  • the site will be available without interruption, or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components.

Information such as where a show or special is available to stream, tour dates, or a venue's status can change without notice. Please check with the official source before relying on it. Nothing on the site is professional advice, including career, legal or financial advice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of AltComedy.com will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or connected with your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content, or your reliance on any information on it. The site is free to use, and our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory local law.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify the operator of AltComedy.com against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may change, add to or remove content and features of the site at any time. We may also update these terms; when we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any part of these terms isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
